Bible Code Theory Research Hoax

Prophecy News That Should Be Erased

This will upset some people but there is no other way to call it other than what it is. The idea behind Bible code theory research is a complete hoax. In my opinion it should never be allowed into any format of prophecy news nor within the Biblical world. Yet people keep driving towards some alternative than what God has clearly given us.

From the very beginning its premise is not Scriptural in that the Bible does state that God declares the end from the beginning. To add to this Scripture states we are to not be ignorant of what God has given us. In other words what God has done is in plain language not hidden within some secret code.

Bible Code And How It Works

Let’s get scientific for a moment. How the Bible code is supposed to work is rather simple in concept. Yet it is built upon a foundation of how the script is arranged. The method of finding these hidden message works best if the script is arranged within an array. There is my first problem. Who determines the boundaries of the array?

In fact the array and how it is arranged can alter what is found. Does a line hold 20 words or 30? If you do not find what you are looking for perhaps changing these parameters will allow for better saturation of words within the format that is being used. At the very beginning within the supposed code foundations are ways for man to alter a system so that things can be found. Yet it gets even better.

The system that they use to attempt at finding these hidden message is what they call ELS or Equidistant Letter Sequence. So allow me to break this down so a child could understand. You take your array of words and pick any word within it to start. It is your choice. You do not have to start at the beginning. So lets pretend we start in the middle.

We then need to pick a skip number. The skip number means that once we have picked our starting point we will skip a number of words to arrive at our next word. We can also travel in any direction within this block of text whether up, down, left, or right to find what we want. So let’s pick the number 5.

Since we started at the center of the block of text we now skip 5 words to our next word and write it down. We skip 5 more words then write it down. We can change directions if we like from the starting point. If we do not find anything it is perfectly okay simply pick a new starting point then go again. Or perhaps to find what we want we need a new skip number.

Since our little human brains are too slow at this we could alternatively put it into a computer adjusting all these variables so that it searches the entire Torah. We keep adjusting values until we discover things. Truth be told I could get an army of monkeys from the zoo to do the same thing randomly and find supposed prophetic meaning.

The entire system and format that is used is not scientific at all. Its foundation is a variable which then becomes dependent upon other variables. When one can continue to manipulate all the variables it ultimately allows for something to be derived from the text with enough time.

No doubt that this same system could be used for any of Hemingway’s writings and we could also make him a prophet. How about Tom Clancy? Certainly he has some kind of hidden code within his text on the Russians. The entire premise is a hoax and it makes a mockery of real Biblical prophecy.

Nevertheless this does not prevent those such as the History Channel from making documentaries about the nuttiest and most profane that they can find.

Resurgence By Timothy Smith

Michael Drosnin in his 1997 book “The Bible Code” was not the first publication of this concept. His book centered around the work of three other men which came from a paper published in 1994 entitled “Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis”. After the 1990’s and early 2000’s it seemed that this code theory began to slowly quieten down.

By the time 2012 was coming on the world people shifted their focus to things such as the Mayan calendar and its supposed end meaning to the world. After this failure a new emergence of some alternate prophetic meaning rose in the Blood Moon blitz which hit the Christian markets. We have to move all the way to 2017 to find Timothy Smith and his book called “The Chamberlain Key”. Here the code resurfaces.

Smith has his own copy of an ancient Bible which is called “The Leningrad Codex”. Yet to help him arrive at his conclusions there are apparently some kinds of ceremonial processes which seem important. Used in this process are things such as scepters and crowns thus it begins to smack of a mix of ideas which sound pagan.

How Did God Work With Biblical Prophets?

Just for clarification, when God spoke to the prophets they did not play dress up nor look for systematic codes on ancient scrolls. God came to them and He spoke. What God told them to write those men wrote. It was in plain language. This of course sets aside the fact that the Holy Spirit was upon Godly men of that time and their lives were called for this purpose and dedicated to God. Their work was not merely as a conduit but also an example for the people of their time.

Another point for clarification. Each thing these prophets wrote were fulfilled in a future time and many are still yet to be fulfilled. None of them were finding anything concerning past times. In other words their work was indeed prophetic as a prediction rather than Smith’s work at postdiction.

Prophets would have dreams, visions, encounters of kinds which we cannot explain. Yet never were they struggling to find context. The communication did not require a computer to search for a meaning as they were dressed up in some ceremonial ritual. God gave the meaning directly. More than once the prophet encountered too much information and was told to not write of certain events.

Elijah received God’s word hiding from his enemy by the brook Cherith. Daniel was put to the test and threatened that if he did not interpret Nebuchadnezzar’s dream people would die. God later continued to speak to Daniel concerning these matters. Isaiah was given future hope of the Messiah while at the same time giving a warning to the children of Israel.

Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet who saw the prophecies of Israels captivity come to pass. Nathan served King David and was a part of God reaching David and restoring him. These men were giants. Who is Timothy Smith?

The lives of the prophets are in stark contrast for those who work with this code searching for any meaning they can find at all. What possible use is this code when it can only find supposed meaning to historical events that have already happened? They offer no spiritual insight. Nor do they speak to God’s intended plan. It is at best a parlor trick for amusement that went off the rails.

Continued Use A Problem

In the year 2020 a new publication from the Jerusalem Post detailed of a possible impending attack from Iran on Israel. This Torah Code became the foundation of this new found possible future. I could have saved their researchers a lot of time and some money on the power bill for that computer.

How about we turn to Ezekiel 38 and 39? That is a pretty detailed description of this future invasion and I hate to inform them but it will involve a whole lot more than just Iran. Two entire chapters of Ezekiel is dedicated to it. Not only who but also its conclusion and what happens after this invasion is over. It is rather graphic and detailed. To think that Ezekiel knew more than their present intelligence community is interesting.

Here is the problem. This code system and other systems like it become a replacement for Scripture. These attempts at finding future prophetic events in these systems often dovetail in or around already existing prophecies which are yet to be fulfilled. They have found nothing new and are often far more ambiguous than the more detailed Biblical prophecy.

It does great for a quick shot in the media at bringing attention to false teaching or systems. It does further wonders at discrediting our faith when we look to things like Blood Moons as our marker in time rather than the words of Paul. At times it is as if there is a group of people who do their best to make us look as nutty as they possibly can.

There is a deeper issue at hand. The use of works such as this code cause damage to the validity of visions such a John. It deepens the ruts within the context of Biblical prophecies being symbolic of future events or rather a metaphor for present day life. In other words it opens the doors allowing replacement theology to deepen its roots within our church bodies.

In doing this the entire context of Scripture is broken from Genesis to Revelation. It allows a systematic breakdown that salvation itself is no longer needed and Christ becomes a mere man that became a legend. Legitimate prophecy both of fulfilled past and to be future fulfilled are lost in this noise. For those in the world attempting to separate the difference between what is legitimate and what is a hoax becomes problematic as we all get tossed in with the nuts.

Breakdown Within Churches

It is unfortunate that many Churches today refuse to teach prophecy. In fact within the Bible belt of the United States one must go far and wide to find real teaching on this topic. There are a few left, yet not many. Most commonly this topic is avoided.

I once asked a prominent teacher within a large Church why it was avoided. He stated that it was too controversial and symbolic. For starters, when was the Bible ever not controversial? Is this now a new standard we must meet in order to follow Christ? We must be non controversial?

Christ told us that the world would hate us. That is strong words and really to the point. He told us to go out into the world and preach the gospel. Within the gospel is prophecy specifically concerning Christ Himself.

As for this symbolic issue he stated that he believes Revelation is not literal. Keep in mind this is within one of the major local Churches within the Bible belt. Clearly I am not writing this blog post to a popular audience for many thousands of views. It may be in fact for me, myself, and I alone. Yet truth is truth and a lie will always be a lie.

The upsetting part of this is how these same people, including this prominent man who I was asking these questions, seek out things like the Torah Code. They cling to Blood Moons and hidden Bible codes which must be manipulated as they seek signs and wonders. We have replaced truth with fiction and worse it is heresy. Yet the people eat it up as the pulpits are silent for it is too controversial.

Narrative Is Not Truth

If one allows the enemy to continually control the narrative then we will lose. The narrative is rarely the truth. Narrative is most often backed by agenda. What is interesting is that facts are stubborn things. Truth never needs the help of a narrative. Truth can be proven. In fact prophecy can be proven. In case anyone has missed Ezekiel 37 and the present Israeli flag that is flying in the Middle East region there is one example to proof unless they are blind.

At some point the Church must refuse a narrative and once again begin speaking in terms of truth. If we continue down this path there are consequences to what we allow and the actions which we take.
